1. Who we are and how to contact us
Flag Atlas: Geography Quiz is published by TheBackOffice ("we", "us", or "our"). For privacy questions or requests, contact:

When you contact us about a request, please identify the App, the email address used to sign in (if any), and the request you are making. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting on a request.
2. Information we handle
2.1 Information you provide by signing in
Google Sign-In is optional. If you sign in, Firebase Authentication and Firestore receive or store the following information to create and operate your account:
- your Google account email address and display name;
- a Google/Firebase account identifier used to identify your account securely;
- an in-game nickname. The App creates a nickname by default; you can change it in the App.
2.2 Game-save and leaderboard information
To save progress across devices for signed-in players and to run leaderboards, we store game information such as scores, completed modes and collections, XP and level, achievements, streaks, in-game currency and power-ups, rewards, settings, and gameplay statistics. A public leaderboard entry displays the in-game nickname and score, not your email address.
2.3 Usage, diagnostic, and technical information
The App uses Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance. These services may process app interactions, feature and screen use, app/device and operating-system information, crash reports, performance information, and technical identifiers needed to operate those services. Crash diagnostics may be associated with a signed-in player's Firebase account identifier so that a reported problem can be investigated; we do not use your email address as the crash-reporting identifier.
2.4 Advertising information
The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads. Google may process device or advertising identifiers, IP-address-derived or other approximate location information, ad interactions, and technical or diagnostic information to deliver, measure, and protect ads. The App does not request Android precise-location permission.
2.5 Information we do not request through Android permissions
The App does not request Android permissions for precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, phone calls, or SMS. It requests Internet access to connect to the services described above and vibration access for gameplay feedback.
3. How we use information
- to authenticate an optional account and save or restore game progress;
- to operate leaderboards, rewards, purchases made with in-game currency, and other gameplay features;
- to understand App usage, improve reliability, investigate errors, and prevent misuse;
- to provide, measure, and protect advertising that supports the free App; and
- to respond to support and privacy requests.
For people in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal bases may include performing our contract with you for account and game-save features, consent where it is required and requested (including advertising choices), and legitimate interests in maintaining, securing, and improving the App. Your local law may provide additional rights.
5. Ads and consent choices
Before requesting ads, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform to obtain and apply the choices required for your region. Where Google makes privacy choices available, the App exposes Settings → Privacy options so you can review or change them. Ads may be unavailable until the required consent flow has completed.
You can also manage advertising preferences and reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android and Google settings. These choices affect Google advertising services; they do not delete a game account or cloud save.
6. Storage, security, retention, and deletion
6.1 Where information is stored and protected
Unsigned game progress is stored locally on your device. The App disables Android backup for its application data. Signed-in account and save information is stored in Google Firebase/Firestore. The App is configured to use encrypted network connections; no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed completely secure.
6.2 Retention
We retain cloud account and game-save information while your account is active. Google may retain analytics, advertising, diagnostic, and security information under the retention settings and policies for the applicable Google service. We may retain limited information when necessary to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements.
6.3 Delete your account and game data
If you have a signed-in account, use Settings → Delete Account in the App. You may be asked to sign in again before deletion. A successful deletion removes the Firebase account, the Firestore user profile and cloud save, associated public leaderboard records, and the App's local game data on that device.
If you cannot use the in-app option, email compass294@gmail.com with the subject “Flag Atlas account deletion request”. This email route is the external deletion method for this App. We will verify the request before processing it. Deleting an account does not remove data already held by Google where it has been aggregated, de-identified, or must be retained under Google’s service policies or applicable law.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, objection to, or portability of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
To make a request, use the privacy contact above. You can update your in-game nickname in the App and delete a signed-in account using the method in Section 6.3. We will respond as required by applicable law after verifying your request.
8. Children
The App is a general-audience geography game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us at compass294@gmail.com so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or its data practices change. The updated policy will show a new version and last-updated date. Please review this page periodically.
